With the new benefit that Intraway is offering, we are able to work from home a few days a week. This is amazing because we can invest all that time we used to commute to the office for sleeping. You have the freedom to get up at 9 o’clock and be online ready to start your work day in pajamas at your own office. But, you can also suffer from multiple distractions, such as families, friends and personal responsibilities, a sense of isolation from the rest of the working world, and a lack of work structure.
Apart from the ones that I have already mentioned, when you work from home, you are in control of what you do for work, how you do it, and in which space you do it. This allows you to work at your desk, on the couch, at the dinner table or, one of my favorites, in the patio. You can work anywhere you want, as long as you are productive and aware that each different place has its own distractions. You have to keep these distractions in mind according to the kind of work that you have to do. You can´t take a very important meeting at your favorite coffee store while people is talking and generating a big sound contamination.
It is a good habit to set rules for yourself and the people you share your space with. You need to get comfortable with your own working space, be able to focus on your activities and get inspired if you need it. That is why it is good to remove all the distractions from your working space, like your PlayStation games, social networks, and visits from friends and relatives. Another good habit that works for some people is that their workday starts when everyone leaves the house (wife or husband, children, etc.) and it ends when they are back home again.
You will have to deal with isolation. You will not have coworkers that come to your desk to discuss how the implementation should be planned or the status of a current project, neither chat about sports or what your plans for the weekend are. Intraway´s huddle helps everyone to deal with this situation, every employee have daily huddles in which the problems, planification and priority of the day are set by the coordinators. This great way to work has improved the team communications and effectiveness. Furthermore, you will be facing the doubly challenging task of having to be both boss and employee. From my point of view, this is the most challenging situation that you have to focus on, being a good boss for yourself.
I can say that the most important requirement for working successfully from home is that you are able to balance your work life and family life. But within Intraway Policy and manner to work you don’t have to being in a constant battle between your work and your family.
If I talk about the concept of “work-life balance” I can say that in Intraway we have our own custom way, as we live with passion and feeling passion for our work we can’t talk about separate things in this concept .
